Bayside west-facing glass with reflected glare off the water. Solar film on the bay side is the job here, and frosted film where the older streets sit close together.

New builds to current energy code, which helps thermally but does nothing for glare or UV. Solar film on the north and west glass, frosted where the lots sit tight.

Flat plains, no canopy, and timber joinery showing fade after one summer. This is a UV suburb before it's anything else.

1980s brick veneers with single-glazed aluminium frames. Solar film on the west elevations is the highest-value job in the suburb.

The harshest afternoon sun in our service area. Open sky to the west, no canopy, and slim aluminium framing on most builds.

Maturing estates with west elevations facing open sky most of the day. Solar film upstairs, frosted film where the lots sit tight.

Mature canopy over the older streets, unshaded apartments along Hampshire Road. Film goes where the canopy doesn't reach.

Open ground, big picture windows, and glare off the lake. Solar film on the living room glass is the standard job.

Our home suburb. Former farmland, no established canopy, and open paddock to the west and north.

Inland heat with January and February peaks above 35 degrees, and very little established canopy across the newer estates.

Heritage streets with small original windows and a hard southerly off the bay. Frosted film on the period rooms, solar film on the rear extensions.

Mature canopy over the cottage streets, open sky over the river apartments. Two different jobs in one postcode.

Small original windows at the front, a wall of glass in the rear extension. The extension is where the film goes.

Bay windows facing the street rather than the bay. Orientation decides the film here more than the postcode does.

Westerly afternoon sun amplified off Corio Bay, and a cold southerly straight off the water in winter. Hard on glass and finishes.

Genuine maritime moderation, but bay-facing rooms still take westerly sun reflected off the water for hours.

Established elm and plane canopy over the street frontages, and the real load on the rear extensions.

Restored Edwardians and double-fronted Victorians. The rear extensions carry the glass and the heat.

Contemporary rebuilds with upper-floor master suites facing north and west. That's where the heat is.

Hilltop homes with treetop and Dandenong views. Solar tint on the floor-to-ceiling glass.
